WHITE MARBLE
GANESH a beautiful, fully carved image of the Hindu God who removes obstacles.
These figures were placed in household and temple shrines, where they were repeatedly
anointed and consecrated. This accounts for the residue of red paint on the
surface and the rich golden vein running through the piece. Repeated rubbing
by worshippers asking Ganesh for assistance caused the wear on the forehead
and nose.
